- Berg used her LCPS email account to lobby Congress in support of Superintendent Aaron Spence. She created a letter and solicited signatures from LCPS employees and community members in support of so-called “inclusive policies” created under Aaron Spence. A Google form created by Berg shows that it was “created inside of Loudoun County Public Schools” and the letter itself was created by Berg’s work account.
- In 2019 Berg published an article in Ms. magazine admitting she discussed “reproductive rights” in her classroom because she claimed “a woman’s choice on what to do with her body isn’t political. It’s just the real world.” Berg further revealed what she would talk about with her students saying:
- “So today in class, we are talking about it. We are going to talk about why men feel constantly entitled to women’s bodies: from censoring Serena’s attire to groping Ariana Grande on stage, from rampant rape culture that denigrates women to mere objects to the laws and regulations telling us what to do with our bodies after they are done with them.”
- Berg also said, “This is about access to the conversation. And if someone has a problem with it, they can check their privilege before they check my lesson plan.”
- In another article she revealed that she created the LCPS Women’s Studies course so she could delve into topics such as “the history of misogyny and the rampant sexism that still exists today.” She was motivated to create the course after “the more qualified candidate did not win the 2016 Presidential election.”
- Berg also claims that “we need to keep questioning the very foundations the American society is built on” and students need to be given tools to “dismantle the very structures and institutions that run on maintaining inequity.”
- Berg made headlines when she allowed Democrat party campaign materials to be distributed at a school sponsored March 2026 event called the “Rise to” summit.
- Berg wrote an op-ed for a Loudoun News site saying, “And my last point, one I speak to most often in my classroom, is with all of this yelling from parents, have you actually talked to the students of LCPS? Because I have. I do it every day. And guess what, students come to school aware of inequities and injustices in our nation, never having heard the concept of CRT. They see it, they read about it, and some of them have experienced it. The classroom gives them a safe space to explore, discover, and discuss these realities, hopefully finding solutions, which is the aim of education.”
- Berg’s activism can be publicly found all the way back to 2016. She sent e-mails to a Virginia Senator chastising him for supporting a bill that would require parents to be notified and given the ability to opt-out of sexually explicit curriculum. She told the Senator, “It’s ridiculous that you are trying to control education when you have no idea what in entails,” she wrote. “You do not want free thinkers. You want people to adhere to your particular version of morality which does not encompass everyone.”
