- In a candidate questionnaire McDonald said, “We as a district have acknowledged disproportionate discipline practices, particularly affecting Black students and students with disabilities, and we have implemented initiatives to address the school-to-prison pipeline. Data has shown that Black students in APS are suspended and expelled at a significantly higher rate than their white peers. We have revised its Student Code of Conduct to provide a more progressive and tiered approach to discipline.”
