Eau Claire Area School District Policies
- ECASD’s equity statement claims there is systemic racism present in today’s society and schools. They claim a “predominantly White privileged perspective, culture, and system is failing our students and families of color.”
- ECASD is “committed to anti-racist and anti-oppression work, racial justice and equity.”
- ECASD claims “that oppression is manifested in racism, sexism, homophobia, heterosexism, transphobia, ageism, ableism, and other forms of systemic and social exclusion.”
- ECASD claims “that White people are the beneficiaries of racial inequality.”
- ECASD emphasizes hiring based on race. Their equity policy states they “will seek out and increase hiring of a diverse staff, including active recruitment of underrepresented groups and more equitable hiring practices, so that the diversity in our district staff and leadership is reflective of the diversity of the students we serve.”
- The district sends out surveys asking students about their gender identity in all grade levels. They ask questions about LGBTQ in grades 6-12.
- Gender Support Plans allow students to use whatever bathrooms they wish based on gender identity.
- Students can share rooms on overnight field trips based on gender identity without notifying other parents.
