- Rogers promoted and participated in a student walkout during the school day with far-left activist group, Moms Demand Action, then posted about it on her social media page (but did not redact the photos of the students).
- Students at a local high school were accused of making racist statements to a classmate. Before the incident was investigated, Rogers condemned the students as guilty claiming they committed “racist actions” just one day after the incident was reported. She further said, “While the perpetrators were children, they must be taught that these egregious acts will not be tolerated in Virginia Beach or at Kellam High School.” The students took the case to court and were cleared of any wrongdoing—they are now suing for damages in federal court.
- At a campaign forum when Rogers was running for office, the moderator called for the crowd to “BOO” the second amendment. Rogers (wearing green in this video) booed along with the crowd showing a “thumbs” down as she was booing the U.S. Constitution.
- The state superintendent of public instruction condemned the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Rogers then blasted the state superintendent claiming it was “forced reverence” for someone “targeting American families” and parroting false accusations against Charlie Kirk.
- During a school board meeting, Rogers said schools should teach students how to be activists: https://x.com/HoneyBadger_USA/status/2022019974093844845?s=20
- Melinda Rogers is endorsed by the Freedom From Religion Foundation.
- Rogers is a proudly endorsed Democrat. After learning that an approved Young Republican Club at a local high school was hosting a Republican speaker, she sent an email to the principal saying she was “alerted” about the speaker and would be attending the event to “ensure compliance with policy.” The event wasn’t in her district and individual school board members do not have authority to direct staff or students. After the event she posted a picture of the speaker and students and bragged about her attendance. She represents a very Republican district. After the event, a document received under FOIA shows Rogers received a text message from a local activist tattling that a student violated the cell phone policy by taking a photo during the club meeting.
- Prior to getting elected to the school board, Rogers was a pre-K teacher. She sent an email to the school board claiming it was necessary for the safety of all that 4 year olds be required to wear a mask all day. Rogers claimed that 4-year-old students who were learning language and speech, could communicate better wearing a mask rather than behind a glass partition. She said that teachers and students could use hand motions to learn speech rather than looking at the formation of the teacher’s mouth.
